How much do you control your Eye?

Alhamdulillah, In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

In this article I will discuss about verse number 30 of Surah Noor of Al Quran…

Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala says:

Meaning:
“Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts). That is purer for them. Verily, Allâh is All-Aware of what they do.” (Surah Noor: 30)

Tafsir of the verse (Tafsir Ibn Qasir): Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala commands: Do not look at those things which I have forbidden to look at. Lower your eyes from forbidden things. If the vision suddenly falls, do not lose it a second time. On the authority of Hazrat Jarir Ibn Abdillah Bajali (Radiallahu ta’ala anhu), he said, When I asked the Messenger of Allah Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi wasallam about the sudden loss of vision, he said: “The vision will be removed immediately.” (This Hadith was narrated by Imam Muslim (RA) in his Sahih book). The purpose of this verse is to lower the gaze, not to start looking here and there, not to look at the forbidden things of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. Hazrat Buraydah (Radiallahu ta’ala anhu) said: “O Ali (Radiallahu ta’ala anhu)! Don’t lose sight of sight. A sudden sight is forgivable to you, but a subsequent sight is not forgivable to you.” (This hadith was narrated by Imam Abu Dawud (RA)) In a Sahih Hadith it is narrated from Hazrat Abu Saeed (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Be safe from sitting on the road.” The Companions asked: “O Messenger of Allah (SAW)! Is it necessary for work?” In reply he said: “Well, then claim the right of way.” The Companions again asked: “O Messenger of Allah (SAW)! What is the right of way?” In response, he said: “Looking down, not harming anyone, answering salam, enjoining good deeds and forbidding evil deeds. It is narrated from Hazrat Abu Umama (R.A.) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) saying: “Take responsibility for six things, then I will take responsibility for Jannah for you. The six things are: do not lie when speaking, do not betray a trust, do not break a promise, keep your gaze downward, keep your hand from being oppressed, and protect your shame. (This hadith was narrated by Abul Qasem Al Baghawi (RA)) Rasulullah (SAW) said: “Whoever takes responsibility for his tongue and private parts, I will take responsibility for Paradise for him.(This hadith was narrated by Imam Bukhari (RA)) Hazrat Ubaydah (RA) said that the action that results in disobedience to Allah Ta’ala is the grave sin. Since corruption is created in the heart after reading the vision, it is ordered to keep the vision downwards to protect the private parts. Sight is also one of the arrows of Iblis. So it is important to avoid adultery and to keep the gaze downward. As mentioned in the hadith, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Protect your private parts (from contact with everyone) except your wife or a slave girl.” (This hadith is narrated in Musnad Ahmad and Sunan) Allah Almighty says: This is better for them. That is, this is the best way to keep their hearts pure. As it is said: He who does not cast his eyes on what is forbidden, Allah enlightens his eyes and enlightens his heartOn the authority of Hazrat Abu Umama (R.A.) that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said: “Whoever looks at the beauty of a woman, then turns away his gaze, Allah gives him in return a worship whose pleasure or taste is in his heart. enjoy.” (This hadith was narrated by Imam Ahmad (RA)) (The chain of this hadith is weak but it is an encouraging hadithThe authority of these hadiths is not paid much attention) It is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Umama (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Either you keep your gaze down, restrain your sexual organs and keep your faces straight, or Allah will change your appearance.” (This hadith was narrated by Tibarani (R.A.)) On the authority of Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Masood (R.A.) that the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.) said: “Sight is one of the arrows of Satan. Whoever restrains his gaze in fear of Allah, Allah creates in his heart such a light of faith that he enjoys His pleasure.” (This hadith is also narrated by Imam Tibarani (RA)) Allah says: Allah is Aware of what they do. None of their deeds is hidden from Him. He also knows the treachery of the eyes and the secrets of the heartIn a Sahih Hadith it is narrated on the authority of Hazrat Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “The part of adultery has been written on Ibn Adam’s Jimma, he will surely get it. Fornication with the eyes is seeing, speaking adultery with the mouth, hearing adultery with the ear, grasping adultery with the hand and walking adultery with the feet. The heart holds desires and wishes. Then the sexual organs make all these truthful or make them all liars. (Imam Bukhari (R.A.) narrated this hadith in detail) Many ancient thinkers forbade the wandering of boys. Many of the Sufi Imams have been very strict in this regard. Ahl al-Ilam have generally called it Haraam. And some called it Kabira Sinah. On the authority of Hazrat Abu Huraira (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said: “Every eye will cry on the Day of Resurrection, except those eyes which remain closed from seeing what Allah has forbidden, and those eyes which remain awake in the way of Allah and Those eyes that cry out of fear of Allah, even though the tears of these eyes are equal to the head of a flyYes.”(This hadith was narrated by Ibn Abid Dunya (RA).
